Description

Description of Beds: When it’s time to hit the hay, the elevated bench seating forms a full-size double bed (135cm x 190cm) for up to 2 adults, with the table dropping down onto wooden ledges and the backrest cushions filling in the gaps. The top layer of memory foam and the tight cushion fit makes for a comfortable night’s sleep

Description of Seating: When on the road, Wallie will safely buckle up 3 passengers in the front (including the driver) and 2 passengers in the rear (optional). The Unwin Innotrax sub-floor means the rear seats are M1 tested and quickly removable. When in holiday mode, the table area will comfortably seat 4 adults and the front two passenger seats swivel around to offer additional seating.

Electrical Setup: When home comforts are required, Wallie has the capability of running 240v electrics via electric hook-up and a 12 to 240v inverter (rated to 1000w). When off grid, there is 220Ah of leisure battery capacity which is more than enough to support device charging and running of the 50L fridge for several days. There’s an additional 200w of solar charging and the ability to efficiently recharge while on the move.

Loction: Wallie is located a 20-minute walk, 10-minute bus or 5-minute taxi journey from both Dartford and Crayford train stations from which you can reach London in 30 minutes.

Parking: When you arrive, you can leave your car on our quiet residential street for the duration of your trip – there are no parking restrictions.

Cooking Equipment: When your tummy rumbles, there’s a kitchen with a two-burner hob and all the usual campervan-friendly crockery, cutlery, utensils and pots and pans you’d expect from your kitchen at home – including a kettle, washing up bowl, chopping boards, bottle opener, can opener, dustpan and brush, cloths, tea towels, washing up liquid etc.

Water Facilities: When you need running water, Wallie includes a large sink and tap with a cold-water tank and an outside shower at the rear of the van (one boiled kettle added to the tank will take the edge off on colder days.) The water is stored beneath the sink with a capacity for 30L of fresh water and 20L of grey water. When you need the loo, you’ll find a small Thetford Porta Potti neatly stowed away beneath the raised floor.

Audio Equipment: When the road trip requires a soundtrack, Wallie’s radio can be linked to your phone via Bluetooth, USB or AUX to blast your favourite playlist.

Heating: When it’s cold outside, there’s a diesel heater to fill the van with warm air and plenty of insulation to make sure it stays there too.

Conversion Story: You might be wondering where Wallie got her name. Call us cliché but it was inspired by the Pixar character Wall-E due to her automatic roof fan which we initially thought had a mind of its own (teething problems).

Wallie began life as a healthily retired wheelchair-accessible minibus looking for a new adventure. We spotted her online and with a coincidental number plate of WA10 BJV…. Bridie & Jack’s Van she became. Having booked a 2-month sabbatical from work to travel in the van, we self-converted her using our combined eye for design, extensive building experience, YouTube tutorials and a weekend at Camp Quirky armed with notepads and pens. 3 months later, we took to Wallie on her maiden voyage around the Alps. Follow us on @walliethecamper to see a before and after video and where she’s travelled so far. We can’t wait to see where she goes next!
