About the area: Claude lives in New Cross, South East London a vibrant student area and only10 mins on the train to central London. It is parked on a quiet residential street next to a park.

Description of Beds: There is a super comfy large double mattress, plenty of pillows and spare blankets - the bed is situated widthways in the van and measures 1.9mtr so not suitable for anyone over this height. Claude sleeps 2 but has plenty of room underneath if someone wanted to camp out under the bed. The double bed measures 1.9mtr long x 1.4mtr wide

Description of Seating:There are 3 seats in the cab with belts. The driver plus two passengers. 2 people can fit comfortably in the main area.

Description of Electrical Setup: The electrical system comprises two USB outputs for charging phones/ devices and a 240v 300W inverter used for charging laptops: There is a split charge relay which charges a 240AMP HR leisure battery and a solar panel on the roof. A 12V Waeco fridge with freezer compartment, sink with submersible electric tap and multiple LED lights including a dimmer in the bed area and a propane heater.

Parking: If you drive to collect Claude, you are welcome to leave your car in her normal spot which is in our private driveway. If you come by train, Claude’s owners can pick you up from New Cross Gate Station.

Cooking Equipment: This kitchen was designed and set up by a chef. Claude has everything you could need to cook up a feast. Included are a set of copper cooking pans, a cast iron griddle pan, 4 of everything; plates, glasses, mugs, and sets of cutlery. Chopping board, chef's knives. Set of copper cooking pans. Bottle opener, corkscrew, spatula, colander, all the usual kitchen utensils and more including a Microplane and chef's own van seasonings. A teapot and coffee cafetiere. Also has a tabletop gas hob for cooking outside and a cast iron Le Creuset griddle pan.

Water and Sanitation: There is a 20-litre removable water tank in Claude that supplies water to the sink via a pump’. Hot water can be heated in a pan on the stove. There is no toilet on Claude. There is a portable pump action shower that works beautifully and can be used with a screen by the back doors or in nature.

Audio Equipment: Claude has a pioneer head unit in the cab that you can connect to via Bluetooth when driving.

Type of Heating: Claude is heated via the propex 2000e propane gas heater which blows hot air through a vent in the main compartment with the flick of a switch.

Extra Information: With standing room and plenty of space for luggage and even bikes in the garage area under the beds makes Claude is super versatile. The kitchen is made for cooking with top-quality cookware and accessories, It’s fully insulated and comes with lots of blankets, cards and some books and with a low-profile solar panel and sliding bulkhead panel Claude can be super stealthy.

Conversion Story: Claude began life as a double-glazing work van. We bought him after a long and careful hunt in 2018 and set about the conversion in our spare time over the next two years which was eventually completed in 2020 and perfectly timed for the end of the first lockdown where he provided a space for the owners to make sense of new circumstances by exploring the country and rediscovering the simple pleasures of a life spent in the great outdoors - these adventures even turned into a book deal and two years later Vanlife Cookbook was released - A book with 80 campervan-friendly recipes, sharing their knowledge on foraging, cooking over an open fire and making the most of what nature has to offer. A copy of the book will be in the van.
