About the area: Situated at the northern gateway to the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon is a world-famous town and birthplace of the playwright William Shakespeare. A bustling centre along the banks of the gorgeous river Avon, with an array of riverfront bars and restaurants as well as the opportunity to take a picturesque boat ride or a spin on the big wheel. The Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre is a major draw for visitors, showing a variety of productions of Shakespeare and other playwrights. Throughout the year you will find weekly artisan markets nestled among the streets lined with Tudor and Elizabethan architecture, as well as a Victorian Christmas market at Christmas time.

Just a short drive away are the picturesque Cotswold Villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water, Upon-a-Van is perfectly located for a Cotswold adventure, with hikes and farm-shops aplenty. A visit to Hidcote is an absolute must; a stunning National Trust property with even more impressive Gardens, just 10 minutes from Upon-a-Van's home.

Description of Beds: Upon-a-Van sleeps two in a full size double bed that converts from a sofa in less than 5 seconds, without the need to build up the bed every night. This set up allows for a generous living space during the day, with a seating area and slide out table that can accommodate yourselves and guests in comfort.

Description of Seating: There are three belted seats in the front of the van with headrests. Both passenger seats are suitable for a child car-seat. There is a spacious seating area with bench seats and pull-out table, easily accommodating 5 people if you're looking to host inside.

Description of Electrical Setup: Upon-a-Van has the capability of remaining off-grid for 1-2 days before needing to charge. Fitted with both an alternator charger (to charge the 100Ah leisure battery whilst on the move), and an electric hook-up for when you are on campsites, with a charger to keep your leisure batteries topped up, getting powered back up is easy. The off-grid system includes 6 USB sockets for charging phones and devices and 2 plugs connected to the inverter should you need to power any 230v devices (limited use is recommended and only low power items if you are going to be stationary off-grid for a longer period of time). When you have an electric hook-up you will have access to all of the above in unlimited quantities and also the use of multiple 230v plugs to power all of your devices, including the optional heater.

Parking: If you drive to collect Upon-a-Van, you are welcome to leave your car in her normal spot on our drive. We live in a quiet, rural, new-build estate and our drive is monitored by a Ring security camera. If you come by train, Upon-a-Van's owners will be able to pick you up from either Stratford-upon-Avon, Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway or Honeybourne stations upon request and pre-arrangement.

Cooking Equipment: Upon-a-Van has a 2 ring gas hob for all your cooking needs. Everything that you could possibly need for cooking and eating a feast on your campervan trip will be provided including all pots, pans, cutlery and utensils, chopping board, cups, mugs and cooking oils etc. Just add food! There is a fantastic 12v Dometic Fridge with a small freezer compartment that works whether you are off grid (see electrical setup) or hooked up at a campsite. In addition to the two gas hobs inside, you have the option of adding an amazing portable cadac barbecue which can be used for all outdoor cooking. It's especially great for taking to the beach. An additional gas bottle with ample supply will be provided if you add this option.

Water and Sanitation: Upon-a-Van includes a full running cold water system. You'll have access to the 30L water tank via the kitchen tap. There is a 25L waste tank below the kitchen sink which can be emptied via a simple turn of a tap on the outside of the van. There is a brilliant outdoor power shower available as an optional extra, which works with the 12v system in the van for off-grid use- especially great for when you want to rinse off after a swim in the sea. For number 1s there is a porta-potti toilet which is hidden away beneath the bench seats to optimise space, you will be shown exactly how to operate and empty this (must be returned clean and empty).

Type of Heating: Upon-a-Van includes a Maxx Air ceiling fan with a remote which creates a refreshing flow of air for those warmer days and nights, you can set a desired temperature and let the fan do the rest. There is also an extractor fan setting for when you're cooking. There is an optional oil radiator available that can be used whenever you have a hook-up and provides a warm, cosy environment. Upon-a-Van's fantastic insulation means you'll be unlikely to need to use the heater unless you're away in the cooler months.

Audio Equipment: Upon-a-Van has USB plug-in and bluetooth available so you can play your own music from the van speakers, a portable bluetooth speaker is also available for maximising the vibes when you're camping!

Pets: You are welcome to bring a small/medium sized dog when travelling in Upon-a-Van, however please ensure they're kept off the seat covers. We recommend a crate under the bed, which can be accessed by the opening double doors as seen in the photos.

Conversion Story: Upon-a-Van is the pride and joy of Will and Sophie. During the lockdown we had a desire for adventure and travel like never before, so we decided to start planning a campervan conversion. In February 2022 we took the leap and purchased a gorgeous 2018 VW Crafter and began to convert it into a beautiful home away from home. The result of many hours over lunch breaks whilst working from home, late evenings and weekends, and we couldn't be happier with how she has turned out. We can't wait to share her with the world.
