About the area: Skandi lives in Blue Bell Hill Village, an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' in north Kent, and is parked on a driveway in a quiet cul-de-sac. The location is a few minutes from both the M2 and M20 motorways, perfect for exploring the beautiful Kent countryside or historic cities of Maidstone, Rochester, Faversham and Canterbury. The M25 is 20 minutes away providing easy access to the rest of the country, while Eurotunnel is 35 minutes down the M20 and the ferry port at Dover is easily reached in an hour.

Description of Beds: Skandi is perfect for one or two people but can sleep up to three by using the pop-top. The sofa bed is 90 cm wide and 180 cm long as a single, but extends to 120 cm wide and 180 cm long as a double. The pop-top 'upstairs' bed is 110 cm wide and 200 cm long and is suitable for a single adult or two small children but it has limited headroom and needs some agility and strength to get up to as there is no ladder! The pop-top bed platform can be easily raised for extra headroom if not in use. Please note that in high winds it is not possible to use the pop top as it may be damaged, which may affect sleeping arrangements.

Description of Seating: Skandi has three belted seats in the front including the driver and twin passenger seat, all with headrests. The passenger seat is suitable for child car seats using the three point seat belts. In the living space the sofa bed comfortably seats three people and the twin passenger seat can be turned around to create extra seating space and a wonderfully sociable set up, especially when combined with the clever adjustable birch ply table top for dining, games or even a laptop.

Description of Electrical Setup: The comprehensive electrical system in Skandi includes touch sensitive warm LED downlights, 2x flexible LED reading lights and a wooden handcrafted warm LED strip light so you can get the lighting just right, at any time. Your electrical devices are catered for by 2x twin high speed USB-A outlets, 2x single USB-A outlets (in the reading lamp bases), 2x 12V socket outlets and 3x 240V 3-pin sockets. Everything is connected to a 125Ah leisure battery, a 176W solar panel, a battery to battery charger (which operates off the vehicle alternator when driving), and a 500W mains inverter. Put simply, this means you can stay off grid almost indefinitely and still have the luxury of using mains devices like hair straighteners (max 500W). A 240V mains electrical hook-up is also fitted which enables the use of higher powered devices (e.g. kettle) and it automatically charges the leisure battery.

Parking: If you drive to collect Skandi, you are welcome to leave your car in her normal spot on our driveway. If you come by train, depending on booking arrangements and timings, Skandi's owners may be able to pick you up from Chatham or one of Maidstone's stations.

Cooking Equipment: Skandi is fitted with a beautiful, safe and hygienic ceramic top hob with a graduated high to low power cooking area and stainless steel cover with child lock. The Wallas hob is diesel powered but unlike gas there is no open flame or changing bottles to worry about - the hob is fed directly from the vehicle diesel tank. It's easy to operate, uses very little fuel and all fumes are safely dealt with in its sealed flue system under the vehicle. Skandi has a Dometic 50l fridge/freezer and is equipped with all the utensils you need to enjoy tasty meals on your travels, including 3x melamine mugs/dinner plates/side plates/bowls, 3x tumbler glasses, 2x wine glasses, set of 3x knives/forks/dessert spoons/tea spoons (in wrap), set of sharp knife/tin opener/scissors/grater/corkscrew/bottle opener (in wrap), 2x chopping boards, wooden spoon, silicone spatula, stove top kettle, 240V electric kettle (low power), stainless steel cafetiere, 2x folding trivets, frying pan, large saucepan and lid, small saucepan and lid, sieve, washing up/multi-purpose collapsible bowl, dustpan and brush, tea towel, selection of spices, complimentary tea/coffee/sugar, eco-washing up liquid, cleaning materials, battery torch, 2x LED battery lanterns.

Water and Sanitation: There is a 13 litre removable fresh water tank and submersible pump in Skandi that supplies water to the sink via a bespoke hand built switched tap. Wastewater is collected in a portable container under the vehicle. Water can be heated in the stove top kettle or electric kettle when on 240V hook up. Optional extras for Skandi include a pop-up storage/shower/toilet tent, USB rechargeable portable shower (with folding water container) and full size portable folding toilet with compostible liner bags.

Audio Equipment: Skandi has a fantastic Kenwood head unit up front with bluetooth wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, DAB radio and USB media input to enjoy your favourite tunes on the go, whilst easily finding your way with your preferred navigation app. A compact high quality JVC portable rechargeable bluetooth speaker is provided in the living area.

Type of Heating: Skandi's Wallas diesel hob has a trick up its sleeve! With the stainless steel cover down it blows heat out of the vent at the front, effortlessly, efficiently and safely keeping you dry, warm and cosy.

Extra Information: Skandi has air conditioning in the cab and is fitted with a reversing camera for easy, safe parking. Her pop-top has a panoramic opening feature which means you can fully roll up the canvas for that real out-in-the-open feeling or even night time star gazing! A full blackout windscreen cover is provided to keep out light and maintain privacy. Front seat covers are provided for those inevitable wet and muddy days. A 2.5m wide wind-out awning is fitted above the side door for outdoor shade or shelter. 2x foldable chairs and 1x foldable table are available as optional extras.

Conversion Story: Skandi was the original white van icon we all know from our rear view mirrors! However, she was destined for a complete, year-long transformation to the beautiful, unique camper she is now. Having hired 'standard' VW Transporters before, we always wondered what our perfect layout would be and, after a lot of thought and planning (with cardboard mock-ups of kitchen units and fridges) Skandi's interior was born. After a full interior strip out, the Skyline pop top, side windows and wind-out awning were fitted by Tom and the team at VW-T. Next we fitted all the insulation, carpeted panels, flooring, extensive electrical system, plumbing, rear windows and curtains. The interior really came together with the installation of the stunning solid birch ply furniture with oak veneer. This is a combination of the pull-out sofa bed and kitchen unit, manufactured and supplied by the lovely Tom and Cait of Contour Campervan Furniture, and our self-built fridge/hob unit and adjustable table to match their beautiful products - not an easy task but definitely worth the effort! The finishing touch was the re-upholstering of the front seats and production of the matching sofa bed cushions by the brilliant Bob at L'Artisane. We are over the moon with the amazing end result - Skandi really is unique and a joy to spend time in.
